Bretwood Golf Course ready for State Amateur

9-0. FESTIVITIES BEGIN TUESDAY AT NORTHEAST DELTA DENTAL STADIUM. THE 114TH NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE AMATEUR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP BEGINS TOMORROW MORNING AT BRETWOOD GOLF COURSE IN KEENE, A COURSE WITH A LOT OF HISTORY IN THE GRANITE STATE. BRETWOOD IS A 36-HOLE VENUE. THE STATE AM WILL BE PLAYED ON THE NORTH COURSE, PLAYING AT ABOUT 6900 YARDS. THE BARRETT FAMILY HAS OWNED AND OPERATED BRETWOOD SINCE 1968, WHEN THE FAMILY BARN BURNED DOWN AND THE BARRETT BROTHERS DECIDED TO BUILD A NINE-HOLE GOLF COURSE. ONE OF THOSE BROTHERS, TOBY BARRETT, STILL LIVES IN THE HOMESTEAD ACROSS THE STREET AND TAKES GREAT PRIDE IN WHAT THEY HAVE BUILT THROUGH THE YEARS. THIS WILL BE THE FIRST TIME IN 17 YEARS THAT BRETWOOD WILL HOST THE STATE AM.>>WE TRIED TO KEEP THE COURSE — IT WILL NOT BE ANY DIFFERENT. THIS COURSE IS KEPT AT CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER MOST OF THE TIME. WE HAVE A LARGE GREEN SO YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO PUTT. THE GREENS PUTT WELL, BUT THEY ARE BIG.>>IS OPEN TO ANYBODY. IT IS ANYBODY’S GAME.
