WE’RE ABOUT TO BEGIN ANOTHER SEASON OF FRESNO STATE FOOTBALL AND THERE’S A LOT TO TALK ABOUT. SO WE’LL GET TO IT. NUMBER-ONE TOPIC. JORGE REYNA. HE TAKES OVER FOR MARCUS MCMARYION AS THE STARTING QUARTERBACK. HE WAS NAMED THE STARTING QUARTERBACK IN APRIL. HIS FIRST GAME IS AT U-S-C. HOW DO YOU THINK HE’LL DO? REYNA WAS ALSO NAMED ONE OF THE CAPTAINS THIS SEASON. ALONG WITH NETANE MUTI, JUJU HUGHES AND MYKAL WALKER. WHAT DOES IT SAY ABOUT SOMEONE WHEN THEIR TEAMMATES VOTE THEM “CAPTAIN?” AND WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THOSE FOUR BEING THE CAPTAINS THIS YEAR? WITH REYNA AT QUARTERBACK, WHO WILL BE HIS GO-TO TARGET? BEFORE YOU GUYS ANSWER, LET’S PUT ON THE SCREEN FOR EVERYONE THE PRODUCTION OF KEESEAN JOHNSON. AS WE KNOW, HE LEFT FRESNO STATE AS THE BULLDOGS’ ALL- TIME LEADER IN RECEPTIONS AND RECEIVING YARDS. HE CAUGHT A PASS IN 50 CONSECUTIVE GAMES. AND LAST SEASON HE HAD ONE- THOUSAND-THREE-HUNDRED- AND-40 RECEIVING YARDS. EIGHT RECEIVING TOUCHDOWNS. JOHNSON WAS DEFINITELY MARCUS MCMARYION’S GO-TO TARGET WHO WILL BE THAT GUY FOR REYNA? WHO WILL BE THAT GUY FOR REYNA? IN THE BACKFIELD… FRESNO STATE IS THIN AT RUNNING BACK. INJURIES TO JORDAN MIMS, ROMELLO HARRIS, PEYTON DIXON. EVEN RONNIE RIVERS HAD THAT HAMSTRING ISSUE FOR THE FIRST PART OF CAMP. JOSH HOKIT IS BACK THERE NOW TO HELP WITH DEPTH. HOW DO YOU THINK COACH TEDFORD USES HIS RUNNING BACKS THIS SEASON? SPEAKING OF POSITION SWITCHES, ON DEFENSE…MYKAL WALKER IS NOW A LINEBACKER. HE’LL TRY TO FILL THE VOID LEFT BY JEFF ALLISON, LAST YEAR’S MOUNTAIN WEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER DID MIKE BELL. HOW DO YOU THINK THE BULLDOGS’ DEFENSE WILL COMPENSATE FOR THOSE LOSSES…AND THE LOSSES OF ALL THE SENIORS LIKE GEORGE HELMUTH, JAMES BAILEY, ETC…? ANDREW GOOD STUFF, GUYS. WE’RE NOT DONE YET WITH THIS CONVERSATION. BUT WE DO HAVE TO TAKE A BREAK. WHEN WE COME BACK… WE’LL TALK BIG PICTURE…LOOKIN G AT NOT JUST U-S-C, BUT THE ENTIRE SCHEDULE. • We’ve lost a lot of great players, but it’s college football…I believe at this point year 3 under the best coach in mountain west Tedford, that he has establish a system of reloading not rebuilding. This team has a chance to be better then last years 12 win team. Losing mims/dixon/harris hurts but having Josh an Ronnie in the backfield is honestly the best duo in the conference. Hopefully they can both stay healthy. I spoke with Jcoop ( Jalen Cooper) on Saturday, he is excited to be in mix with the ones at WR and I believe he will be handling punt/ kickoff duties.Electric player will probably remind some of a taller Clifton Smith has the moves and speed to be a game changer. Jorge is already a fan favorite, he has a bigger arm then McMaryion and what I also like is he’s not afraid to take a risk, sometimes it pays off being aggressive especially against a USC defense that is already thinking they are going to shut down are offense.
Getting Muti back is huge, he could start for any pac12 team. Watching him toss around Alabama defense 2 years ago was as impressive as Alison making over 15 tackles, he is a impact player for us on offense. In my opinion honest opinion the dogs defense will be better then last years and probably the best defense Fresno has ever had. Studs across the board and great depth we will lean on are defense to help the offense get a flow. Been watching the dogs play for over 20 years this is my season preview not all red wavers will agree but it’s all good, this is just what I see from last year to this year. It has all signs pointing to another mountain west championship!!
    Go Dogs!🐶💯🔴

PS ( Atkins, Haynes, McCoy, Tatum, Walker, Rice, Mosby, Free, Bryant, Juju) are going to make a all conference defensive team👍

Also Jared Rice is the best tight end at Fresno since Bear Pascoe!!

  • Let’s go Jorgie!!!!!!

  • Sac state 3. Fresno state 67!
